As one of the original 21 members who founded USTCAF, I am really excited
about the recent growth of USTCAF and big achievements of USTC. Therefore,
I would like to become more actively involved with USTCAF activities and
work with each of you to make our contributions to the mission of USTCAF.
I am looking forwarding to joining the board and working for AF.

Present, Senior Member of Technical Staff, Vice-Chair of Technical Council, Institute of Microelectronics (IME), Singapore
I just realized that USTCAF has done excellent jobs
and pulled a good family of alumni together.
It had the best team-spirit competing for leading edge and
it started many important initiatives.
I will try my best to work on the board if elected,
and to fulfill the mission of USTCAF.
This is one way for me to pay back the solid education obtained from USTC.

MS Molecular Genetics /The Ohio State University
Associate Scientist J&J
J.D. UC Berkeley School of Law

I was a GB member and conducted probably one year of alumni
interviews. I stopped working for AF when I started law school.
Now I am excited about contributing some time and effort into GB
again.
- ³ÙÊÀºê CHI Shihong 897 schi-at-mail.utexas.edu
94-97, Master in applied geophysics in University of Petroleum, China

I have
been a life member for about 5 years and care about the AF and USTC. I
organized
or helped to organize a few activities of alumni in Austin. I also
hosted the Austin alumni webpage for a year or so.
I want to make contributions to the activity of local
alumni in greater Boston area (and other places) when I move there this
March. I believe it is very important for everyone to realize
he/she can contribute to
the continued success of USTC.

1990 Carnegie Mellon University, Ph. D
1998 Geogia Institute of Technology, Nassau Community College
Now Quantum Corp, Model N, Inc., Oracle Corp.
Last year I went back to Keda with the 2003 USTCAF delegation. It brought back
lots of memories. Keda has not only laid the solid foundation towards our
further education, but also awarded us with wonderful lifelong friends. Keda
encouraged innovative learning, creative thinking and healthy competition,
these are the Keda spirit. These helped Keda graduates stand out in their
further studies and works.
This trip also showed me what wonderful jobs the alumni foundation has done
over the years, I would like to join the organization to reach to more alumni,
and help promote and instill the Keda spirit with younger kids in today's
world. Thank you.

I have been busy making a living while USTCAF is growing bigger
and bigger. I am impressed by
the alumni activities in Bay Area and feel proud to
be a USTC alumni. To show my proud
as a USTC graduate, I want to be a member of the USTCAF board.
- ÍõεȻ WANG Weiran, 9012 weiran_wang-at-hotmail.com
2003 - present, Philips China, R&D staff
2000 - 2002, Netbig, R&D staff
1992 - 2000, USTC, BS & ME
I have served GB for two years and it's an interesting experience. In my
opinion, AF is not a professinal organization yet, but definitely it's a
good club if you really like USTC. I have helped AF to deal with
communications on HSS/ONS issues and I think this year I can do something
similiar. By the way, my location, Shanghai, could help AF a little.
- ºúÈÙÏæ Hu, Rongxiang (John), 862, johnrhu-at-aol.com
1986-1991 BS, Physics, USTC
1991-1996 Ph.D, Solid State Physics, Auburn University
1996-1997 Process Engineer, Siltronics Corp.
1997-2001 Staff Engineer, Process R&D, LSI Logic Corp.
2001-Current Advanced Technology, Processsor and Network Product Group,
Sun Microsystems
I have served in various alumni and international student organizations,
including USTC AA in Silicon Valley, USTC Alumni Fundation, and 1994
Chair of Auburn University CSSO and Committee Chair of International
Student Organizations.
USTC had it's years of glory in the past. A growing and establishing
network of alumni from those days could be a solid foundation that USTC
can leverage to maintain it's excellence and continue to attract talents.
AF has demonstrated that a strong alumni network can be beneficial for
both USTC and its alumni. Besides financial donation, we can also
contribute our expertise/projects in engineering or academic, by
networking the alumni in engineering, faculty and entrepreneur fields,
and by promoting alumni/industry cooperation with USTC and its entities.
I have been working with other USTCers to organize some
activities towards these goals, and would like to continue to work with
other AFGB members and fellow alumni to contribute to the success of USTC
and its alumni.
- ËïȺ SUN Qun, 773, qun.sun-at-comcast.net, qun.sun-2-at-usa.dupont.com
1985-1990, Univ. of Notre Dame, Ph. D. in Phys. Chem.
1991-1995, Lehigh University, Worked on Heterogeneous
Catalysis.
1995-2003, DuPont Company, Catalysis and Polymer Synthesis.
2004-present, INVISTA/Koch Ind.
To me the most important and memorable time was the period I had
spent at KeDa. From what we can tell now, our old school is no longer
enjoying the prestige it used to in the competitive sense. There are too
many factors contributed to that. Most of us may believe that there are
not much we can do to change it. However, whatever we can do to help,
significant or less significant, will be in the right direction to better
our school. I admire the dedication and sacrifice of the previous board
members over the years. I'm willing to put in some effort to help our
mission.
- ÕÅÉÏÓÎ ZHANG Shangyou, 771, szhang-at-udel.edu
1983-1988, U Michigan, U Minnesota, Penn State U, Ph.D student.
1988-now, Purdue U, U of Delaware, faculty.
It is our obligation to help USTC and USTCAF. No matter how much I
helped and how much I can contribute in future, I am proud that
I cared. Be a proud USTCer!
- ¶¡½£ DING Jian 912 jding-at-ustc.edu, Jian.Ding-at-guidant.com
1999.7 - present Guidant Corp., St. Paul, MN
1999.7 MS in Electrical Engineering, University of Minnesota at the Twin
Cities
1996.7 BS in Physics, USTC
I have been serving the USTCAF for three years, and I hope to continue my
service this year. I wish my work can in some way contribute to AF's mission:
to help USTC, and to help USTC alumni fulfill their dreams. The USTCAF is still
in its early years, and the financial strength and its influence are still
weak. But there are great prospects that are worth waiting and fighting for.

I was an AF board member of AF from 1995 to 1999, and chair of the board
for 1997. I would like to do the following for AF this term (1)Fund
raising in Houston and vincinity. Work with local alumni association and
start a monthly luncheon of alumni for social gathering and raise
awareness of AF in the meantime. Will try to add AF to Gulf Coast United
Way charity list, (2) USTC liaison: will probably make a couple of trips
to China in 2004 and can meet USTC people if necessary, (3)will keep in
contact with the Education Section of Consulate General -Houston to pave
the way for future funding by the Section for our delegation, or
lectureship opportunities, (4) other AF daily issues as necessary.

As a relatively new alumni of USTC, I want to do some volunteer work in
the
near future for AF. For the time being, I want to familiarize myself with
the board issues to accumulate more experience.

After the USTC 2003 Delegation trip, I witnessed the enthusiasm and effort
that many USTC Alumni have put in for the future of USTC. Through good
team
work a lot of good results have been achieved. I wanted to be more
helpful.
But since it is difficult to foresee how much time I can devote to AF in
year 2004, I would like to start with being a board-elect member.
