Dear Fellow USTCAF Members,
 
Many of you may not be aware that today (6/20/07)
marks the 12th anniversary for the founding of the
USTC Alumni Foundation.
 
12 years ago(1995), USTCAF was founded by overseas
alumni out of concerns for slipping USTC student quality.
Many of the early USTCAF members were in the early
stage of their career, large percentage of them were
in school at that time. Nevertheless, we started the 
journey to reclaim the glory for USTC.
 
What a difference together we have made in the past
12 years. Thanks to more than One Million US Dollars
contribution (including yours) from more than 2000
USTCers, friends and corporations around the world,
more than Half Million US Dollars has been used to 
offer --
 
* More than 200 Outstandiing New Student Award
  (since 1996);
* More than 400 Goodwill Scholarship(since 1999);
* 20 or so Young Faculty Career Award(since 2001);
* 10 or so Teaching Excellence Award(since 2004).
 
USTC Alumni Foundation has become an instrumental
force rallying global alumni resources to help USTC
and its people. USTCAF itself has become one of best 
managed non-profit organizations in Chinese community
characterized by its all volunteer governing board,
end-to-end transparent operation, ultra-low expense
ratio.
 
Along the way, many USTCers have made great 
advance in their career; younger generation USTCers 
whom old-timers used to worry about have joined the 
ranks of USTCAF with the same enthusiasm and 
generousity.
 
For the next 12 years and beyond which we look 
forward with great optimism and confidence, we see
much greater accomplishment among USTCers and 
hundreds fold increase in the difference that USTC 
Alumni Foundation can make with your continued 
support. We could be well on our way to take USTC
destiny into our own hands.
 
We shall feel pround of the world of difference we 
have already made and will make in the years to
come. Happy Anniversary!
