of Illinois at Chicago
As one of the younger generation in AF, I hope I can help AF attract more
focus from newly-graduated USTC alumni. In 2006, I was in the Governing
Board, contributed my cents on networking, witnessed the big success in AF
fund raising. In 2007, I would like to continue working with other GB
members to build another success. My goal in 2007 would still be in
networking with younger USTCers. Your support is appriciated.

2004-2006 President of USTC Alumni Association in Maryland
My 5 years study in USTC is one of the most treasured memories in my
life. It is my passion to contribute my own effort to build a stronger
alumni community and make a better USTC.
As one of the founders, I had been the president of USTC Alumni
Association in Maryland for two years since 2004. With the help of many
enthusiastic association members, our association is very active and growing
fast.
Now I am asking for your vote to allow me to serve on the 2007
Governing Board of USTCAF. If elected, I will do my best to help USTCAF in
its regular management and its fund raising practices. I will also make my
contribution to build tighter connections between USTCAF and local USTC
Alumni Associations. I appreciate your support!

09/2000---07/2004, USTC, B.S. in Physics
09/2004---present, University of Notre Dame, Ph.D. student in Physics
I appreciate the education and friendship received in college years; it is my
great pleasure to serve USTC Alumni community. During the past year, I witnessed
the total donation to USTCAF exceeding half million, and so excited to see it
approaching the million milestone. I hope to join the efforts helping USTCAF
make more encouraging achievements in fund raising and management. For instance,
there have been requests that USTCAF should give grants to those people in
urgent situations. With greater amount of funds then ever, it might be the time
to reach an appropriate solution for this issue. I can also help in the
networking of alumni near Chicago area.
- Zhi-Jun Ni 851 ni1999-at-hotmail.com
I proudly strived to accomplish my undergraduate education in pure mathematics at USTC during 1985-1990, also a critical time for my emotional and spiritual growth. I managed to become a Ph. D. candidate in Number Theory at Ohio State University. Less a dissertation, I graduated with a Master degree in 1997. I had since worked for about a dozen US companies of start-up nature, pursuing my wealth dream. For last a few years, I have been teaching Mathematics to college students at Los Angeles area, including at California State University (For the latter, I just received confirmation today :-).
No alumnus or alumna has not paid some attention to, and been inspired by, the Alumni Foundation's incarnation, direction and momentum over a decade. I'm no exception. I'm motivated to step up my efforts of involvement with USTCAF. My contribution will be likely on the respects of alumni connection, communication, experience sharing and spiritual building. USTC alumni, unite, envision a day that both USTC and USTCAF are global brands, and share the pride and privilege of our belonging, now and then.
